As of 2022, there are over 1 billion TikTok users. TikTok is
ranked sixth among all social media platforms, placing it above Snapchat,
Pinterest and Twitter. It is also the most engaging app making it a great
platform for marketers to utilize. However, some have been skeptical about
implementing TikTok into their marketing strategy out of fear they will only
reach the younger demographic. However, reaching the younger demographic can
reap great benefits. Let’s dive into some of those benefits.
The first benefit of reaching the younger demographic is brands
can meet the next generation. Meaning brands can instantly connect with the
next generation of generation z and millennial consumers around the world.
There is a lot of pressure in today’s world to keep up with the latest trends.
If businesses are able to start something new that sparks the interest of a
few, those few will continue to influence a few more and before you know it
everyone wants what that brand has to offer. Going along with that, the next
benefit is TikTok cultivates unique engagement. Brands can convert users into
brand ambassadors through shared experiences, hashtags challenges, ideas and
more. Influencer marketing is continuing to impact consumers of all ages,
especially the younger demographic. Which means utilizing brand ambassadors on
TikTok is a great way to influence young consumers. Finally, TikTok is a great
place for businesses to drive growth. TikTok’s intelligent content discovery
process allows brands to drive growth and maximize visibility. As we all know,
awareness is the first step in getting a viewer to convert to a customer. A
couple companies that have been successful leveraging TikTok are chipotle with
over 1.7 million followers, e.l.f. Cosmetics who creates contests and utilizes
influencers, The Washington Post with other 14 million followers and the NBA
who has grown by publishing engaging and humorous content. TikTok is a unique
platform that allows brands to be creative and engage with their audience in a
new way.
I think that TikTok is a great platform for brands. Sparking interest in your target audience is important. TikTok makes this process much easier to achieve. It is such a unique platform and one of my favorites!
